About Us

About Us

Hopeful Tails is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization based in Joliet, Illinois. We are not supported by government funding but by our loyal supporters who join us in the fight to end homelessness and abuse among the voiceless.

Our organization started out with a group of volunteers from another rescue who wanted to make a larger impact. On October 13, 2013, the founders met, and by November 26, 2013, Hopeful Tails Animal Rescue officially became a foster-based rescue.

Two years after its establishment, we relocated to our current location. We have been fortunate enough to rescue over 6,000 dogs to date.

As Hopeful Tails continues to grow and face new endeavors, we depend on our staff, volunteers, donors, and community for support.
Monetary donations can be made through Shelterluv.

Our organization is proud to:

  • Rescue dogs in danger of being euthanized at high-kill shelters
  • Provide necessary veterinary care – including the inclusion of being spayed or neutered
  • Provide loving temporary care with our foster program
  • Place rescued dogs into well-matched, carefully selected, permanent adoptive homes
  • Serve as a resource to the community and all dog owners by providing education
  • Host quarterly low-cost vaccination clinics

Our six pillars

Network

We hold adoption events, vaccination clinics, fundraisers, and more, so check back regularly or follow us on Facebook to keep informed!

Adopt

Finding loving forever families for our homeless family while we provide a safe haven of love, health and wellness.

Volunteer

Our dedicated team plays a significant role in our lifesaving efforts. No act of kindness, no matter how small is wasted.

Foster

Critical to our rescue work, temporary foster homes offer our dogs a warm, loving environment to heal, grow and flourish.

Education

We aim to reach and educate the community regarding homelessness as well as engage the next generation of animal advocates.

Animal health

We give every dog individualized treatment from vaccinations to spay and neuter regardless of their state of wellbeing.
